Penn FC News Release
(Harrisburg, Pa., August 10, 2005) - Harrisburg City Islanders forward Chad Severs and goalkeeper Dave Kern are both included in the USL Second Division Team of the Week for Week 16, the league has announced. Both were key to Harrisburg's 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Kings on Saturday, August 6, at Skyline Sports Complex.
Severs accounted for the game's lone goal in the 45th minute. The explosive rookie was pushed down in the penalty area by Cincinnati's Tiest Sondaal at the end of the first half, leading to a penalty kick. Severs converted from the spot. The Penn State product is third in the league in points (28) and tied for second in goals (12), and has already set team single season records in both of those categories.
With five Team of the Week appearances this year, Severs has now set another single season club mark.
Kern earned his first Team of the Week honor of 2005 with an impressive outing against the Kings. The second-year keeper turned aside five shots en route to his team record fourth shutout of the season. He is 9-0-1 with a 1.08 goals against average this season. The Misericordia graduate has gone 12-0-2 with a 1.05 goals against average over the course of a 14-game unbeaten streak that began on May 30, 2004.
Harrisburg (11-3-5, 38 points) has now placed 15 different players on the Team of the Week this season. Five different City Islanders have been named Player of the Week in 2005.
