Central Valley Coyotes News Release

(Shreveport, LA) - The Central Valley Coyotes traveled to Louisiana to meet the new look Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings at CenturyTel Center. The Coyotes came away winners with a score of 63 to 34, starting the season 2-0.

The Coyotes started the game strong scoring on their fourth play from scrimmage when Scott Rislov passed to LaMonte Jones for a six yard touchdown pass. After the Coyotes stopped the Battle Wings on there first possession the Coyotes would give the ball right back to them when Vai Nota fumbled the ball after a ten yard running play. The Coyotes stopped the Battle Wings for the second time when they attempted and missed their second field goal of the game. That led to a LaMonte Jones rushing touchdown with 5:10 left on in the 1st quarter that put the Coyotes up 14-0.

The Battle Wings scored their first touchdown after recovering a fumble by Jones at the end of the 1st quarter. It was all Coyotes for the remainder of the first half, as they lead at half time 28-7. The second half was not much different as the Coyotes ended up scoring 35 more points and held the Battle Wings to 27 points and just 118 yards in total offense.

"Schutt Offensive Player of the Game" Scott Rislov had another outstanding game going 30-41 for 360 yards and 7 touchdowns. Rislovs' play, along with the stellar play of Jones who finished with 8 catches for 117 yards including one rushing touchdown and "US Army Iron Man Player of the Game" Wes Borba who had 7 catches for 110 yards, was too much for the Battle Wings defense. The defense was helped by "ADT Defensive Player of the Game" Daniel Jones who had 2 interceptions and a defensive line that put pressure on the Battle Wings quarterback all night and totaled 5 sacks.

The Coyotes look to continue their winning streak when they meet the Bakersfield Blitz in the "Battle of Highway 99" next Saturday at 7:15 pm at Selland Arena in Fresno.

There are partial season ticket packages, as well as group packages, and individual game tickets, still available for the 2006 Central Valley Coyotes.
