BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Central Illinois Flying Aces lost, 3-1, to the Madison Capitols after a late third period goal.

The Flying Aces outshot the Capitols by a large margin, 37 to 23, to control the pace of the game, but could only crack Joseph Lamoreaux once.

The Capitols got on the board first at 3:51 in the first when Alex Mella found Anthony Stark with a stretch pass through neutral ice. Stark entered the zone alone on a breakaway and slipped the puck five-hole.

Central Illinois tied the game at 11:12 in the second. Cal Kiefiuk (Macomb, Mich.) caused a turnover off the backcheck. Ryan Siedem (Madison, NJ) chipped it back to Kiefiuk who broke out on a two-on-one. He wristed the shot, top-shelf far-side to score for the Aces.

Late in the third period, Chase Brand shot the puck towards the Aces net. Alex Mella was able to slide the rebound into the back of the net to take the lead back for the Capitols at 18:33 in the third. Madison iced the game with the empty net goal seventeen seconds later.

Next weekend, Central Illinois hosts the Omaha Lancers on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. for their only game of the week.
