Celebrate the NECBL Victory Over Team USA
June 28, 2011 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Danbury Westerners News Release
On Monday, Jamie Shevchik, Dave Ciocchi, Mike Ford and the entire Westerners coaching staff made history at Fenway Park in Boston when Team NECBL upset Team USA 3 to 2 in a hard fought pitcher's dual. It was a game that will be long remembered by all who participated and certainly a tribute to the players, coaches and managers who have built the NECBL into the premiere baseball summer league in the country.
Whether the Cape Cod Baseball League will ever have the courage to challenge the NECBL to another All Star Game is yet to be determined. But, for now, we know the best summer collegiate baseball resides at Rogers Park, and other NECBL venues.
Tonight, the pennant hungry North Shore Navigators make their first and only visit to Rogers Park to take on the Westerners. Most of the names have changed from last year's Championship final but, the rivalry is as strong as ever.
Come out and watch baseball that is comparable to the College Baseball World Series...right in your own backyard. We hope to see you tonight for the 6:30 game!
