Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release

Cedar Rapids River Kings Head Coach Mark Stoute has announced that the team has signed Raymond Taylor to its 2019 roster.

The former Oklahoma State and Tulsa University running back joins the River Kings for his rookie season of professional football.

James (5'8", 200) started his college career as a walk-on at Oklahoma State, where he would play three seasons. He moved from fourth on the depth chart to being a starter in 2015, playing five games that year. He was OSU's third-leading rusher with 297 yards on just 47 carries - good enough for a 6.3 yard average. He scored four touchdowns, including a career-long 58 yard long score against UTSA.

James wrapped up his collegiate career at Tulsa University as a Golden Hurricane utilizing the NCAA graduate transfer rule. While there he played running back, noticing a career-high 102 yards in a 59-30 win over the Memphis Tigers. He also returned kicks, racking up 138 return yards in a game against SMU, which included a 67-yard return.

The new River King played high school football at Collegiate High School, and was named the team MVP as a senior after rushing 165 times for 1,469 yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging 133.5 yards per carry and 8.9 per carry. He also recorded 47 tackles as a senior.
