
CBL coming to Moose Jaw

Vancouver, B.C. â July 3, 2003 - The Canadian Baseball League is pleased to announce the Calgary Outlaws and Saskatoon Legends will play a Showcase Series, July 9 through July 13, at Ross Wells Park, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
The Legends and Outlaws are currently 1-2 in the CBL's competitive Western Division. The series could significantly impact the CBL's Western Division first-half championship.
"We know Moose Jaw is a great baseball community and we're excited to be able to showcase the league to the fans of the area," said CBL president and CEO Charlton Lui. "Barnstorming is a fantastic baseball tradition. Fans will be able to come out and watch some very high caliber baseball, some rising stars of the game, and of course some of Canada's best talent," continued Mr. Lui..
The Saskatoon Legends, 16-8 and in first place in the Western Division, are led by Ben Van Iderstine. The Regina-native is currently second in the CBL batting race (.396), third in RBI (27) and first in hits (40).
The Calgary Outlaws are 14-10 and trail the Legends by two games. Calgary is led by pitcher Zach Murray of Edmonton. Murray sports a 4-1 record is among the league leaders in several pitching categories.
Both Murray and Van Iderstine are also members of the Canadian National Team who play against Puerto Rico at Windsor, Ontario this weekend in a three-game World Cup Qualification series.
Tickets for the CBL Showcase Series go on sale at 6pm, Friday, July 4 at Ross Wells Park. Early Bird tickets are $10 (tax included) for Grandstand seating and $8 (tax included) for Bleacher seating.
After noon on July 9, ticket prices are $12 for Grandstand and $8 for Bleacher.
Partial proceeds from the series will help support Moose Jaw Amateur Baseball.
