CBA Announces Jimmie Hunter (Gary Steelheads) as Player of the Week for Dec. 5, 2005

Boise, ID (December 5, 2005) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Gary Steelheads guard Jimmie Hunter has been named the CBA Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 28 through Dec. 4. Hunter earns the award for the first time in his two-year CBA career.

Hunter averaged 29.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in four games for the Steelheads last week, helping Gary jump into first place in the Eastern Conference with a league-best 32.5 quarter points, 4.1 QP average and a 5-3 record. Gary went 2-2 last week. Hunter put up 39 points on Dec. 3 in a 137-127 overtime victory over the Western Conference leading Dakota Wizards. Hunter connected on a season-high 15 field goals (24 attempts), while he posted 32 points on Nov. 30 in a 113-111 win at Albany. His 39-point total on Dec. 3 was one-point away from his season-high of 40 points on Nov. 20 vs. Rockford.

On the season, Hunter is third in the league in scoring with 26.1 ppg. and is eighth in assists with 5.0 apg. Besides leading Gary in these two categories, he also leads the Steelheads in steals (12), field goals made (79), free throws made (40), and free-throw percentage (80.0 pct.).

Gary has a league-best 3-1 road record. It hosts the Yakama Sun Kings on Tuesday, Dec. 6, then the Rockford Lightning on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Steelheads travel to Rockford on Sunday, Dec. 11.
