Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
Burlington, VT - For the first time in the history of the Vermont Frost Heaves, they have finally lost a game in burlington's Memorial Auditorium. The Lawton/Fort Sill Cavalry came in to Burlington and proceeded to put an end to the streak with a decisive 110 - 96 victory over the Frost Heaves.
Vermont jumped out to a quick 10 -3 lead in the first quarter but the inside play of the Cavalry's Shawn Daniels put them right back in to the game. The Cavalry led after the first quarter 32 - 22 and extended their lead to 61 - 43 at the half.
The third quarter wasn't much better for the Frost Heaves as the Cavalry extended their lead to 20 points for most of the quarter and the quarter ended with Lawton/Fort Sill holding a 92 - 75 lead. The Frost Heaves managed to get within 12 in the fourth quarter, but again the inside play of Lawton/Fort Sill never allowed the Frost Heaves to get any closer.
The Cavalry had 6 players in double figures, led by Wayne Marshall with 25 points, DeAnthony Bowden with 18 points and Shawn Daniels with 17. Vermont was led in scoring by Marshall Brown with 19 and Aaron Cook with 12 points. Ross Demasi added 10 for the Heaves. The Cavalry shot 66% from the field to the Frost Heaves 41%.
The Frost Heaves get right back at it tomorrow at 2:05 as the Buffalo Stampede come to Burlington. Tip is at 2:05 and plenty of good seats are still available. The Frost Heaves winning streak in Burlington ends at 25.
