Cavalry begin search for new head coach

July 25, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Wyoming Cavalry News Release

The Wyoming Cavalry Professional Indoor Football organization begins the search for a head coach for the 2007 season. The position was vacated earlier this month by Shannon Moore after he accepted an assistant coaching position with South Dakota State University.

"It is a great opportunity for Shannon and we wish him all the best and success," says General Manager Mike Layton. "We loved having him here, as did the community. He had the best two-year record in Cavalry history. It's not uncommon in this league to have a turn-over in the coaching ranks." "Although, we have had inquiries, the official search begins today," continues Layton. "We took some time to brainstorm on exactly what we want to look for in a head coach - the characteristics and responsibilities, besides winning football games, that are most important, both on and off the field."

The Wyoming Cavalry enters its 7th season in indoor football in 2007. They are an inaugural team in the National Indoor Football League.

"The primary goal of the Wyoming Cavalry organization is to provide our communities with a valuable asset. Our community leaders have the opportunity to use the existence of our professional sports organization as a recruitment tool for visitors and conventions, and to help entice individuals and organizations to relocate to Casper and other close communities," says Layton.

The Wyoming Cavalry organization prides itself on providing unique, affordable, family-friendly entertainment to spectators of ALL ages, whether they are the sports enthusiast; or the mom looking for a fun night out with the family; or the 5-year old freckle-faced little girl beaming from ear-to-ear as she makes her way around Kodiak field during Custer's parade; or the competitor crossing the finish line during the 'Bud-Ball On-Field Promotion Race'; or the person who knows nothing about football, but because the action is so-fast paced - loves it; or the thankful employee who earned tickets to the game; or the guests of a season ticket holder or sponsor; or the Special Olympics Athlete who was specifically thrown a ball during the game by the Cavalry player he bonded with the day before during the Cavs' camp.
