
Cats Add Experienced Goalie

HUNTSVILLE, AL â Huntsville Channel Cats head coach, John Gibson, announced today that former goalie, Matt Carmichael, will join the team in camp on October 15.
"We are excited that Matt is coming to play for us," Channel Cats head coach, John Gibson, said. "He has a lot of experience in the goal. It is important to have a solid goaltender. We have a lot of confidence in Matt."
Carmichael has played nine seasons of junior and professional hockey including one with the Channel Cats in 1999-00 and one with the Tornado in 2000-01. He has played in 131 career professional games and 115 career junior games in Canada. He played 11,469 career minutes. He has stopped 5,647 shots and allowed 690 goals. He has a 3.60 goals against average and an 89.1 save percentage. He has a 76-93-16 career records and has six career shutouts.
He played in 77 games and 4,059 minutes with the Cats organization. He stopped 1,965 shots and allowed 236 goals. He had a 3.48 goals against average and had an 89.2 save percentage. He is 34-29-3 record as the Cats goaltender and had two shutouts.
Former Alabama-Huntsville left wing, Jessi Otis, is also coming to camp. He played in 124 games for the Chargers from 1998-02. He scored 30 goals and had 50 assists. He also played in 12 career professional games with the Muskegon Fury of the UHL and Lexington Men O'War of the ECHL.
Other players coming to camp are center and right wing, Ryan Turgeon, defenseman D'arcy Cox, goalie Jason Dupuis and forward Brad Repic.
Turgeon played for the Big River Timberlogs of the NSJHL last season. He scored 25 goals and had 45 assists in 40 games. He was the NSJHL leading scorer and was named league MVP and All-Star center. He played in 68 games with the Assiniboia Southern Rebels of the SSJHL from 2000-02. He scored 33 goals and had 46 assists.
Cox played in 30 games for the Tillsonburg Vipers of the OHASr league last season. He scored one goal and had five assists.
Rebic scored one goal in 16 games for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL in 1997-98.
