Casper Ghosts News Release
The Casper Rockies Professional Baseball Club has announced its 2004 regular season schedule. The Colorado Rockies Pioneer League team will open the season at home at Mike Lansing Field on Friday, June 18th against a fellow Southern Division foe â the Provo Angels. This official home opener will start a 5-game homestand for the Rockies.
The 2004 season will be the fourth for the franchise in Casper. The Rockies play a 76 game schedule that includes 38 home dates at Mike Lansing Field. The home schedule includes 11 home games on a Friday or Saturday night for a great weekend night out. The season concludes at home again this year with a 5-game homestand that concludes on September 6th.
"The Casper Rockies are excited for another season of professional baseball here in Casper. The community support has been great in our first three seasons and I expect that to continue to grow. The support last year was overwhelming as evidenced by our record setting crowd of over 3,000 in attendance at last season's final home game!" stated Mary Schmidt, the second year General Manager and President of the club. "We can't wait to build on the excitement of last year that included our first ever post game fireworks spectacular and our first ever âBark in the Park' which involved man's best friend being able to attend a game. We actually ended up having 3 fireworks shows due to the overwhelming support from our fans. We will do everything within our means to continue to make a Casper Rockies game great family entertainment for everyone!"
The Pioneer League is broken into a North and South Division. Joining Casper in the South are the Provo Angels (Anaheim Angels) and the Ogden Raptors (Los Angeles Dodgers) in Utah, and the Idaho Falls Chukars (Kansas City Royals) in Idaho. The Chukars were formerly the Idaho Falls Padres. The North Division includes 4 teams in Montana: the Billings Mustangs (Cincinnati Reds), the 2003 Pioneer League Champions, the Helena Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers), the Missoula Osprey (Arizona Diamondbacks), and the Great Falls White Sox (Chicago White Sox).
Game times again in 2004 will be 7:05 PM for Monday through Saturday games, with Sunday games starting at 5:05 PM. Times are subject to change.
