Casper Ghosts News Release
The Casper Ghosts are pleased to announce their field staff for the 2010 season. The entire staff from 2009 will return in 2010. The team takes the field June 21, 2010.
Tony Diaz will return for his fourth season as manager of the Ghosts. This will mark Diaz's tenth season as a member of the club. He was named the Colorado Rockies player Development "Man of the Year" in 2002. Diaz attended Florida International University, where he received a bachelor's degree in marketing. He and his wife Julie, daughter Gabriella, and son Anthony, reside in Tucson, AZ.
Jon Stone will return for his second season with the club. Stone played collegiate baseball at Sacramento City College where he was part of two state championship teams. Stone was drafted by the Padres in the 20th round and played in their minor league system for four year as well as five years in the independent leagues. Stone was born and still resides in Lodi, Ca.
Craig Bjornson will return for his second season with Ghosts as the team's pitching coach. This is also his second season with the Rockies organization. Bjornson is not however new to the Pioneer league. He spent the last three seasons as the pitching coach for the Ogden Raptors. Bjornson was also a pitching coach in the National/Expos's organization from (1999-2001, 2003-2005). He pitched for three seasons in the Astros minor league system after playing college baseball at Nichols State. Bjornson resides in Tucson, AZ.
Josh Guterman is also back for his second season as the team trainer. Josh attended Linfield College in Oregon graduating with a BS in athletic training. He played fours year of college baseball at Linfield. Josh, a Fremont CA native is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
