Casper Ghosts News Release
The Casper Ghosts are pleased to announce their field staff for the 2009 season. The Casper Ghosts are an Advanced Rookie affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. The team takes the field June 23rd 2009.
Tony Diaz will return for his third season as manager of the Ghosts. This will mark Diaz's ninth season as a member of the club. He was named the Colorado Rockies player Development "Man of the Year" in 2002. Diaz attended Florida International University, where he received a bachelor's degree in marketing. He and his wife Julie, daughter Gabriella, and son Anthony, reside in Tucson, AZ.
Kevin Riggs will be returning for his second season as the Ghosts hitting coach. Prior to joining the Rockies organization in 2008 Riggs spent 9 years playing professional baseball. Riggs spent time in the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, and Cleveland Indians organizations. He and his wife, Joanna have two sons, Taylor and Kevin Jr., and live in the Phoenix area.
Craig Bjornson will begin his first season with Ghosts in 2009 as the team's pitching coach. This is also his first season with the Rockies organization. Bjornson is not however new to the Pioneer league. He spent the last three seasons as the pitching coach for the Ogden Raptors. Bjornson was also a pitching coach in the National/Expos's organization from (1999-2001, 2003-2005). He pitched for three seasons in the Astros minor league system after playing college baseball at Nichols State. Bjornson resides in Tucson, AZ.
