Cary, NC: The Bull City Legacy faced a daunting task in its first-ever TRBL game. The Legacy, playing as a TRBL travel team in 2013 with full admission planned for next season, faced an unbeaten Cary Invasion team on its home court. Eager to prove a point, the Legacy stunned the home team early, putting up the first 8 points of the game. The TRBL-newcomers looked like a seasoned veteran squad for the first 6 minutes of the game, but then the Invasion response came hard and came quickly.
A few quick inside buckets from Invasion forwards Charles Ward and Daniel Jackson first evened things up. Then Invasion guard Paul Wright showcased his outside shooting skills with several three-point shots over the span of just a few minutes. The Invasion blew open the first quarter and carried a 37-18 lead into the second.
The Invasion slowly extended the lead in the second and third quarters through solid pressing defense and scoring from inside and out. Cary led at the halftime break 74-47 and then built the lead to 30+ points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a push, and Cary went on to win 141-104.
Invasion guard Corey Evans (Cincinnati Christian) led all scorers with 31 points. Center Raheem Oshodi (NCCU) had a strong game for the Invasion, netting 18 points along with 6 blocked shots. Seven Cary players scored in double figures. Legacy guard Tim Vines (NCCU) had 28 points in the losing effort. Bull City forward James Crowder (Pfeiffer) dropped in 25 points and had 11 rebounds in the contest.
