Fayetteville Crossover News Release
Greensboro, NC: The long awaited rivalry game between two regional Tobacco Road Basketball League titans took place on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Goode Gymnasium as the local crowd was prepared to see who was the best team in the triad, the visiting High Point Heat or the Greensboro Cobras.
The Cobras came in to the game winning 149-131 over the Winston-Salem Team Certified while High Point had a disappointing loss to the Charlotte Elite 119-102. Greensboro took early control of the first quarter with scoring from Norman Carter and Bryan Akingkube. After a time out the Heat got things under control as Marsharee Neely and Kenard Moore began to heat up, keeping the Heat close: 31-30 Cobras.
In the second quarter both teams battled as down to the final seconds when Shelton Carter connected on a 3-pointer to give the Cobras a 67-61 lead at halftime. The third quarter was just like the second as both teams exchanged baskets until the Cobras went on a 8-0 run to lead by as much twelve points before the Heat was able to cut into the lead. The Cobras led 95-85 at the three-quarter mark. In the fourth quarter Marsharee Neely, Antwon Person and Kenard Moore kept the Heat within striking distance but clutch free throws by Chakiris Moss sealed the deal for Greensboro as they won 125-120.
