Greensboro, NC: The Cary Invasion made its first trip ever to Greensboro for a TRBL game on Saturday night. The Greensboro Cobras brought a a healthy fan base to Bennett College to cheer on the home team, and the game began with an exchange of baskets that lasted for most of the first quarter. But, the Invasion put its 11-man rotation to work, knocking down three pointers and playing stifling defense that forced the tempo. A big second quarter by the Invasion pushed the lead to more than 20 points. The visitors led at the break 67-47.
The Invasion stretched the lead to 32 points by the end of the 3rd quarter that was delayed by nearly 30 minutes due to a power outage caused by area thunderstorms. The teams played an even 4th quarter, and the Invasion won 141-108. Zeke Mayes led all scorers for Greensboro with 34 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Wright and Corey Evans had 21 and 22 points respectively for the Invasion. The Invasion (8-0) next host Big Texas (5-1) on May 19th at 5 pm. Greensboro (3-4) plays next at PrimeTime on May 25th.
