Carmichael named to first team

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc goaltender, Matt Carmichael, has been named first-team All-SPHL by the league's coaches.

Carmichael finished the regular season with a 23-11-2 record. He led the SPHL with a 2.75 goals against average and a 91.9 save percentage. The Ottawa, Ontario native finished third in wins with 23 despite missing four weeks with an injured groin.

Columbus Cottonmouths forwards Tylor Keller and Tim Green along with Knoxville's Kevin Swider were named to the first team. Defensemen were Fayetteville's Mike Clarke and Ryan Akia from Columbus.

Forwards named to the second-team were Dean Jackson (Fayetteville), Edan Welch (Pee Dee) and Jason Bermingham (Knoxville). Defensemen named to the second-team were Doug Searle (Knoxville) and Matt Ponto (Columbus). Florida's Terry Denike was named second-team goalie.

The Havoc will travel to Columbus Friday night for the first game in a three-game series with the Cottonmouths. Game two is set for Saturday night at 7:30 at the Von Braun Center.
