CardSharks Fall to Freedom in Shootout

Atlantic City, NJ, April 25, 2004 â The CardSharks fell on the road to the Fort Wayne Freedom on Saturday, April 24 by a score of 63-54. The Freedom (3-2) jumped ahead early, and managed to fend off a fourth quarter comeback by the CardSharks (1-3).
"We came out slow in the first half against a very good football team," stated General Manager and Head Coach Mike Siani. "When you fall behind like that, it makes it tough to come back and win on the road."
The offense had a big night for the CardSharks, especially through the air. Quarterback Tony Racioppi threw for 279 yards and six touchdowns, while only being sacked one time. Wide Receiver Eric Magrini exploded for 10 receptions and over 100 yards receiving. Both Shawn Foxworth and Rocco DeMaise added two touchdown receptions a piece.
Rocky Harvey had a big day for the Freedom. Harvey rushed for 3 touchdowns and had 1 more receiving. Quarterback Antoine Taylor also contributed with 5 passing touchdowns and another 49 yards rushing.
"Taylor is quite an athlete, and we had some problems containing him," added Coach Siani. "We will have to focus on not only stopping the running game, but also work on confining Taylor to the pocket when they come to Atlantic City."
The CardSharks are on the road again next week, with a visit to the defending champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds. Atlantic City will come home to Boardwalk Hall on May 8th at 7:30 PM to play their second of seven home games against rival Staten Island.
