Johnson City, TN - One night after being eliminated from postseason play, the Greeneville Astros (32-34) concluded their 2014 season on Friday night with a 7-2 loss to the playoff bound Johnson City Cardinals (37-31).

The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed. Their first run came when Oscar Mercado scored on a wild pitch. Then, Jose Godoy knocked in Casey Grayson on a single for the second score.

Grayson went on to go two-for-three on the night with two runs, a homer, two walks, and three RBI. Meanwhile, Jesus Ustariz also stood out for the Cardinals with a four-for-four night.

The Astros' first run came in the third inning when Antonio Nunez scored on an Alex Melendez ground out to cut their deficit to 2-1. Then, in the sixth inning and trailing 4-1, Melendez scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Muniz.

After having their lead cut down to 4-2, the Cardinals came back with a three-run inning in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach. The first of their three runs came on one of five Astros' errors on the night, and the other two came on a two-run single by Grayson.

Cardinals' starting pitcher Steven Farinaro gave up two runs, with one earned, on two hits over his six innings of work. He went on to pick up four strikeouts and one walk as he earned up the win.
