
Captains Unveil 2011 Promotional Calendar

SHREVEPORT, La. - The celebration from the Shreveport-Bossier Captains' 2010 American Association championship will continue into the 2011 season, as the Captains have announced two promotions involving commemorative championship rings as part of their crowded promotional calendar.
For the first time as the Captains, the team opens the season at home, which will feature Raising Cane's Caddo Parish D.A.R.E. Day, at 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11. The full opening night ceremonies will be the next night, presented by KMSS Fox 33. All fans will also receive magnetic schedules courtesy of MetroPCS, along with the return of the popular 99X Thirsty Thursday, featuring Budweiser Shirt off our Back Night.
The opening series and the Championship Celebration, also presented by KMSS FOX 33, then concludes on Saturday, May 14, with SWEPCO Family Night, MetroPCS Youth League Night, and the first of the two ring giveaways - with Bailey's Jewelers giving away a replica championship ring to one lucky fan, while the Captains players get their rings from 2010.
All fans can get a piece of the championship on Saturday, May 4, with Landers Dodge giving away "rings on a stand - paperweight replicas of the Captains' rings.
"We're so pleased to be able to share our championship with the fans," Captains general manager Chet Carey said. "We thank Baileys and Landers Dodge for making this possible, and our great media partner in FOX for getting the word out."
Other spotlight evenings include the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Night, including a business after hours and young professionals initiative on Thursday, June 2, KSLA 12 and First Choice Personnel presenting the New Orleans Saints cheerleaders - the "Saintsations" on Saturday, June 18, and a Independence Day weekend celebration sponsored by Landers Dodge - with a Fitzgerald Contractors logo baseball giveaway on Friday, July 1 and a fireworks spectacular the next evening.
The Captains have also brought back a trio of promotions that focus on serious topics in the community. June sees both Jason Bland Memorial Tribute and Cancer Awareness Night, presented by Willis-Knighton on Friday, June 3, and "We Care about our Kids - A Tribute to Justin Bloxom and Family, presented by Townsquare Media on Friday, June 17. On July 29, young fans can once again come for Shots for Tots and Back to School Night, presented by Willis-Knighton.
This season's weekly promotions remain similar to 2010's, with Jose Cuervo and Maker's Mark Ladies' Night Monday (free admission to all women over 21, and half-price Jose Cuervo margaritas and Maker's Mark beverages), Captain Morgan Twofer Tuesday (Two-for-one admission and Captain Morgan drinks), Willis-Knighton Wednesday (Kids eat free with paid admission), 99X Thirsty Thursday ($2 beers and Shirt off our Back Night), MetroPCS Youth League Nights and Buffalo Wild Wings Kids Run the Bases on Fridays, The Radio Group Jersey off our Back Night on Saturday and Pepsi Bark at the Park on Sunday.
"Captains fans have every reason to come to the ballpark this season," Carey said. "Aside from another great product on the field, we're excited about the 2011 promotions and we hope all of our supporters will be too."
