WHITECAPS - RAILHAWKS TONIGHT

Vancouver Whitecaps FC men aim to continue their unbeaten start to the 2007 season when they host the expansion Carolina RailHawks tonight at 7pm.

Bob Lilley's side have been in fine form since the beginning of May, having recorded four wins and a draw during the course of the month. The run includes three straight 3-1 victories, with the latest result coming last Sunday against Rochester Raging Rhinos. It is the club's best start to a season since 1991 and sees the Whitecaps currently top of the USL-1 standings after seven games played. "We got through the two games fairly healthy," Lilley said of his team to whitecapsfc.com. "Some guys picked up some knocks, but I expect everyone to be available to us."

WHITECAPS WOMEN IN SEATTLE SATURDAY

Vancouver Whitecaps FC women take to the road for the first time this season when they visit Seattle Crossfire Sounders on Saturday at 7pm.

It is the second meeting in less than a week between the two Pacific Northwest rivals, as Bob Birarda's side came from a goal down to defeat Seattle 2-1 in wet conditions at Swangard Stadium last Sunday. Erin Redwine gave the Sounders the lead before goals by Jodi-Ann Robinson and Sophie Schmidt gave the Whitecaps their first three points of the new season.

FEATURED PLAYER: JAY ALBERTS

Vancouver Whitecaps FC men have enjoyed a superb start to the 2007 season, and one player that has contributed to that early success is midfielder Jay Alberts.

The 26-year-old has scored two goals in the Whitecaps' first seven games, including a fine winning strike in the recent 3-1 victory over Rochester Raging Rhinos at Swangard Stadium. The Sunset Hills, Missouri native has appeared in six of the club's seven games to date, with three of those appearances coming off the substitutes' bench.
