Vancouver Whitecaps News Release
The Whitecaps Men lost 2-1 in overtime away to the Seattle Sounders Wednesday night at Qwest Field. Seattle midfielder Chad Brown headed home the dramatic winner in the last minute of overtime, just seconds after Jason Jordan hit the post at the other end. Seattle led 1-0 for much of the second half, until Oliver Heald converted a penalty kick deep into injury time to send it to OT.
Vancouver's record goes to 12-9-5 for 41 points, as the Caps fail to clinch a playoff spot for the second game in a row against the Sounders, while extending their winless streak to seven games. The Whitecaps remain in second place in the Western Conference, while the 12-10-4 Sounders close to within a point of Vancouver. The Whitecaps can clinch a playoff spot if they earn four points in their remaining two games. The Caps have no time to rest as they host the Minnesota Thunder on Thursday, August 19, in a 7:00pm start at Swangard Stadium.
