West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
The West Michigan Whitecaps frustration continues on their current road trip. Four Whitecaps pitchers held the Beloit Snappers hitless in every inning but one on Friday night in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Beloit Snappers edged the Caps, 3-2, for the Whitecaps fifth straight defeat.
The Snappers bunched three singles and a double in the second inning off of 'Caps starter Humberto Sanchez for a 3-0 lead. Sanchez and three relievers would hold the Snappers hitless for the rest of the game.
The 'Caps, who were shutout on two singles on Thursday night, were blanked on just three singles for five innings on Friday until Chris Maples hit a 2-run homer in the sixth for their only runs of the game. The 'Caps, who out-hit Beloit, 7-4, had numerous chances to score but fell to 1-5 on their current 8-game road trip.
The Whitecaps and Snappers will met again on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 Michigan time in game three of the series. Jon Connolly (4-0) is scheduled to start for West Michigan.
