Capitals Announce Winter Fest Instructors

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals Baseball Club announced today the accomplished group of instructors who will develop the skills of local players and coaches at Caps Winter Fest later this month.

The Caps are gearing up to host their 2011 Winter Fest, which includes both player and coach camps, January 21 to 23 at the state-of-the-art St. Francis Xavier Baseball Academy.

Winter Fest instructors include:

- Orv Franchuk: Edmonton Capitals Field Manager, World Series champion coach with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, hitting coach with the San Diego Padres organization in 2009 and 2010

- Mark Randall: Edmonton Capitals Pitching Coach, St. FX Baseball Academy Coordinator

- Gord Gerlach: Edmonton Capitals Hitting Instructor and Director of Baseball Operations

- Lou Pote: Edmonton Capitals 2010 Pitcher of the Year, World Series champion with the Anaheim Angels in 2002

- Mike Johnson: Edmonton Capitals pitcher, former Major League pitcher with the Montreal Expos and Baltimore Orioles

- Sheen Bromley: St. FX Baseball Academy lead instructor

- Wayne Ryder: T2 Motion Analysis president/operator

- Nate Hay: Edmonton Eskimos Head Athletic Therapist

Two different player camps are available depending on age. For kids 12 and under, camp will be Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23 from 9am to 12pm each day. The older group, players 13 and up, will hone their skills from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Registration for each player camp is $119 (plus GST), which includes a Winter Fest T-shirt, jump drive with video analysis, lanyard, water bottle, awards and prizes.

The coaching clinic includes an evening session on Friday, January 21 from 6pm to 9pm, in addition to Saturday and Sunday sessions from 9am to 4pm. The coaching clinic costs $150 (plus GST) and includes a Winter Fest T-shirt, as well as breakfast snacks on Saturday and Sunday. Various coaching certification modules are available for an additional charge of $30 per module.
