Canucks Sign Brandon Reid

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have signed centre Brandon Reid to a new National Hockey League contract.

Reid, 25, has spent the past two seasons in Europe. Last year with Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss Elite League, the Kirkland, PQ native scored 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points and 16 penalty minutes in 44 games. In 2004-05, Reid played in 45 games with the Hamburg Freezers of the German Elite League where he scored 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points and 41 penalty minutes.

In 206 career games over three seasons with the Manitoba Moose, Reid collected 55 goals and 94 assists for 149 points and 44 penalty minutes from 2001-2004. In 2004, he was selected to participate in the American Hockey League All-Star Classic in Grand Rapids, MI. He was the leading scorer for the Moose in both the 2002-03 & 2003-04 seasons. In eight career post-season games with the Moose, Reid has a goal and four assists for five points.

In 10 career NHL games with the Canucks, Reid has scored two goals and four assists for six points. He has also appeared in nine playoff games with Vancouver in 2003 where he collected an assist.

Reid was originally Vancouver's seventh round choice, 208th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
