Boston, MA : Paul Rabil scored his 100th career goal as the Boston Cannons (6-3) returned home to Harvard tonight, but it was not enough as the Hamilton Nationals (5-4) prevailed, 16-12. Unable to regain momentum in the second half after a nine-goal second quarter, the Cannons suffered their second loss in a row. Hamilton goalie Scott Rodgers earned Bud Light Player of the Game honors for his 20-save performance.

Hamilton started off hot in the first quarter, shutting out the Cannons 3-0. Brett Bucktooth scored the first two goals of the game against goalie Jordan Burke while Jeremy Boltus scored one more as the quarter ended.

After a slow start, the Cannons were busy during the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to start their nine-goal rally before the half. Kevin Buchanan started the scoring for Boston while Paul Rabil, Max Qunizani, Ryan Boyle and Matt Poskay all scored in order to give the Cannons their first lead on the night. Buchanan showed off his long range skills as well, scoring a 2-pointer and giving Boston an 8-5 lead. The teams traded goals for the rest of the quarter, with the Cannons taking a 9-8 lead into the half.

The Nationals began the third quarter with four goals in order to take the lead for the remainder of the game. Poskay broke Hamilton's streak with two goals in a row, bringing the Cannons back within one. However, it was not enough for Boston as Donny Moss scored to end the third quarter in favor of Hamilton, 13-11.

In a quiet fourth quarter, Buchanan was able to jump start the Cannons' offense with his third goal on the night, keeping Boston within one. But with three goals to close the game, Hamilton clinched the win.

The Cannons travel to Denver for the last time this season to face the Outlaws on July 30th at 9:00 PM EST. The Cannons' last home game is Saturday, August 13 against the Rochester Rattlers at 7:00 PM EST.
