
Cannons outscore Lizards, 20-17

The Boston Cannons defeated the Long Island Lizards, 20-17, in front of 4,187 fans at Mitchel Athletic Complex on Saturday evening. The Cannons outscored Long Island 5-1 in the fourth quarter to comeback from a 16-15 deficit. David Evans was named Bud Light MVP, with four goals and one assist.
Long Island was led by Kevin Lowe (2G, 4A). Jay Jalbert (2G, 1 two-pointer, 2A), and A.J. Haugen (3G) also contributed. Tim Goettelmann (3G, 1A) scored all of his points in the second half. Brian Dougherty recorded 18 saves in goal.
Earlier in the day, FDNY defeated NYPD, 14-7, in the first part of the doubleheader at Mitchel Field.
The Cannons improve to 4-0, the best start in MLL history. Long Island falls to 2-2, but will have an opportunity to get back into the American Division race when the two teams meet again this Saturday at Nickerson Field.
