West Oahu CaneFires News Release


Each offensive starter for the West Oahu CaneFires collected at least one hit as the squad racked up 12 hits and secured a 7-2 victory over the Honolulu Sharks in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park.

Ian Gac, Brian Jeroloman and Todd Martin each notched two hits while seven different hitters picked up an RBI. Honolulu (9-7-1) catcher Brandon Snyder led the Sharks offense with two base knocks and two runs scored.

CaneFires (5-11) starter Steve Johnson (2-1, 3.00 ERA) earned the victory thanks to five scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and struck out five.

Maui native and Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama graduate Kanekoa Texeira made his HWB debut with Honolulu. The reliever out of the Chicago White Sox organization tossed two innings without allowing a hit or run. Sharks starter Takuya Furuya (3-1, 4.00 ERA) took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits in four innings.

Both squads go at it again tomorrow night at Hans L'Orange Park with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
