
CaneFires Crush Honu on Opening Night

West Oahu CaneFires News Release
Miles Durham went 3-5 with a home run and five RBIs and led West Oahu to a 12-3 victory over North Shore on opening night of Hawaii Winter Baseball's eighth season tonight at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park.
The CaneFires (1-0) pounded out 13 base hits, and all 11 hitters that appeared in the game recorded at least one hit. West Oahu collected four runs in each of the first and seventh innings to put the game out of reach.
West Oahu outfielder Greg Burns added two RBIs and picked up a first-inning triple.
CaneFires reliever Mike Ramlow (1-0) earned the win, tossing two innings of scoreless relief and striking out two.
Honu catcher Jason Castro and outfielder Kenji Sato notched two hits apiece in the loss.
North Shore (0-1) starter Jason Godin (0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering four earned runs in two innings.
The teams return tomorrow at Hans L'Orange Park for the finale of the two-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
