TEXARKANA, Tx. - The Acadiana Cane Cutters spent the longest day of summer slaughtering the Texarkana Twins in a doubleheader at George Dobson Field. The Cutters swept the Twins with a score of 8-4 in Game 1 and 8-3 in Game 2.
Cutters' shortstop, Trey Harrington (SE Louisiana) delivered a triple to clear the bases in the fifth. Cole Taylor (Texas A&M) also added runs to the board in the final inning with a double. Taylor was 3-4 with 3 RBIs in Game 1. The Cutters ended Game 1 with an amazing play at the plate.
Pitching for the Cane Cutters was red hot with starter Joseph Battaglia (BRCC) and reliever Tyler Booth (LSUE) recording 1-2-3 innings in Game 1. Game 2 reliever Brayden Erbe (ULL) also recorded a 1-2-3 inning.
The Cutters were not done getting hits, starting Game 2 with a two home runs off the bat of Chandler Morris (Texas A&M) in the second inning. Cole Secrest (Lamar University) would bring in run number five in the fourth with a single off the wall. Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University) was also 4-5 with three RBIs in Game 2.
The Twins attempted a rally but failed to catch up to the Cane Cutters. Most runners for the Cutters throughout both games were the result of several walks delivered by the Twins.
The Cutters will be back at Fabacher Field for a series against the Texarkana Twins on Sunday (6/24) and Monday (6/25). That Sunday we are celebrating Eddy's birthday.
