
Canaries Sign Reliever Pluta For 2010

SIOUX FALLS, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries announced today they have re-signed right-handed pitcher Andrew Pluta. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound reliever went 4-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 24 games last season with the Canaries. His 3.12 ERA ranked third overall on the team. He held opponents to a.268 average while striking out nine in 26 innings pitched.
The San Diego, CA native joined the Canaries last season after playing with the California State Wildcats where he went 5-1 with a 5.16 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 45.1 innings of work.
The 22-year-old Pluta and the Canaries open their fifth season of American Association baseball on Thursday, May 13th against the defending champion Lincoln Saltdogs at Sioux Falls Stadium. Click here to view the Canaries 2010 schedule.
