Moncton Magic News Release

(Moncton, NB.) The Magic have made a second important re-signing of a player from last year's NBL Canada Championship team. Head Coach and GM of Player Personnel Joe Salerno announced today that now third year returnee Jason Calliste has re-signed with the team for the 2019- 2020 NBL season.

Calliste, a 6'2" guard from Scarborough, Ontario played a vital role in the Magic's playoff run last spring, helping lead the team to its first ever NBL title. The Canadian sharpshooter averaged just over 10 points per game in the post season for the Magic, while leading the entire league in 3-point field goal percentage at 41.9% on the season. Calliste also finished in the top 10 in the NBL in 3-point field goal makes, while also shooting over 82% from the free throw line.

"Jay is about as consistent of a player you will find. You know what your going to get from him night in and night out. He was huge for us in the playoffs, stepping up into a larger role and consistently knocking down shots. He is a guy who leads by example, he is a competitor and someone we are very glad to see will be back in the black and silver next season" commented Salerno.

Calliste, who finished his collegiate career with the University of Oregon is a seasoned veteran, having played professionally in Latvia, Spain, and the NBA G-League for two seasons with the Maine Red Claws. This will be Calliste's third season with the Magic, and fourth in the NBL Canada.
