Canadian Hoops Legend Joins Mill Rats

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, are thrilled to announce that former Canadian National Team star and hoops legend, Will Njuko, has joined the club for the 2012-13 season. Njuko is the club's third Canadian player and was cleared by FIBA Friday afternoon just prior to the game at Summerside.
Njuko, a 6'10 power forward-centre, starred at Saint Mary's University in Halifax from 1990-1994 and was a second round draft pick of the Indiana Pacers (NBA) in 1994. He is the only Canadian player that rose through both the high school and college in Canada that was selected in the NBA draft.
"Having such an incredibly accomplished player of Will's stature to our team is awesome. He brings experience, leadership, and guidance both to our locker room and on the court," stated Mill Rats Head Coach David Cooper. "He is is great shape and is very, very skilled and will be tremendous asset to our front court."
He continued his career playing overseas in France, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Portugal, Macedonia, and Kosovo. He played on the Canadian National Teams from 1993 to 1998, teaming with other Canadian greats such as Steve Nash, Rick Fox, and Rowan Barrett.
"Will's addition to the Mill Rats is big move for our organization, and also for the NBL Canada," stated Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarthy. "He brings a huge amount of credibility for both and we are very excited about this."
The Mill Rats are on the road for the next week and a half playing the Summerside Storm on Nov. 9th, the Halifax Rainmen on the 10th and the Moncton Miracles on the 14th. Stay tuned to the website to watch the game live!
The Mill Rats are back at Harbour Station for a double header on Nov. 22nd and Nov.23rd as they take on the Oshawa Power and the Windsor Express from the Central Division. Both games are at 7pm.
