Quebec 15, Trois-Rivieres 0 (Game 1 - 7 innings)
The Quebec Capitales shut out the Trois-Rivieres Aigles 15-0 during the first game of their July 4 doubleheader. The Capitales erupted for 14 runs in the fourth inning to put the game away. 2B Mike Provencher paced the lineup out of the two-spot with three hits, including his eighth double of the season, drove in two runs and scored once as well. Kyle Regnault picked up the win for the Capitales after throwing five innings of two-hit shutout baseball. He racked up eight strikeouts and walked none on 68 pitches.
Trois-Rivieres 7, Quebec 5 (Game 2 - 8 innings)
During the second game, the Aigles bounced back and took down the Capitales 7-5, with the Trois-Rivieres pitching staff and defense performing much better than game one. Quebec only mustered five hits in the second game after Matthew Rusch threw seven innings without allowing an earned run and Sean Keeler throwing a shutout eighth. The two pitchers combined to strikeout nine Quebec batters and walk just two while only allowing a trio of unearned runs. 2,852 people were in attendance for the July 4 doubleheader.
New Jersey 8, Rockland 4
The New Jersey Jackals took down the Rockland Boulders in an interleague, Independence Day matchup, 8-4. LF Jorge Cortes and DH Joe Dunigan each scored a pair of run for the Jackals out of the three and four spots. Cortes went 1-4 with a walk and a pair of RBIs while Dunigan scored twice without getting a hit-he walked twice. Gabriel Perez picked up the win for New Jersey after 96 pitches, six innings and four runs allowed. 4,256 people were in attendance.
