Rockland 3, Newark 1
With a nine-strikeout performance on the hill, RHP Pat Moran led the Rockland Boulders to a 3-1 win against Newark. Moran threw 6.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits before handing the game over to the bullpen, which built on the starter's strong work. Alex Kreis added five strikeouts for Rockland over 1.2 and Kevin Fuqua worked himself into trouble, but ultimately closed the door in the ninth for his second save in two attempts. On the offensive side, Chris Edmonson provided all the clout the Boulders needed. His two-run home run in the first gave Rockland a lead that it never relinquished.
Quebec 10, Trois-Rivieres 1
Royce Consigli did not waste his hacks against Trois-Rivieres. The Capitales LF slugged a pair of home runs and added an RBI double to help Quebec to a 10-1 victory over the Aigles. All-in-all, Consigli finished the evening 3-5 with five RBI and two runs scored. On the mound, RHP Karl Gelinas struck out seven and held the Aigles to one hit over five innings. His teammates from the bullpen had similar success. Kyle Regnault, Tim Griffin and Chris Cox combined to finish the game for the Capitales, surrendering just two more hits to secure the win for Gelinas.
St. Paul 5, New Jersey 1
One night after a tough, extra-inning loss to open the St. Paul Saints' season, RHP Wes Roemer took matters into his own hands. The starter tossed seven innings, holding the New Jersey Jackals to one run on three hits, en route to a 5-1 Saints win. Even more impressive, Roemer struck out seven and the only run he surrendered was unearned. The Saints gave Roemer run support in the middle of the game, plating a pair in the fourth and tacking on three more in the fifth. St. Paul RF Brandon Tripp provided two RBI on a 2-4 night. Additionally, 2B Brad Boyer drove in one and scored two for the Saints.
