Can-Am League Recap

Brockton 8, Pittsfield 7

With the Colonials trailing 8-7, Pittsfield's Danny Bomback walked and stole second to lead off the ninth, representing the tying run. But Bomback was thrown out trying to steal third, and though the Colonials put the tying run in scoring position once again later in the inning, they couldn't close the gap, losing Game 1 of their best-of-five series with Brockton. RF Keith Brachold led the Rox' offense, knocking a two-run home run in the first and adding a one-out triple in the fifth. Can-Am Player of the Year Melvin Falu slugged a two-run homer of his own in the bottom of the third. 1B Jerod Edmondson and CF Quentin Davis had two doubles each for Pittsfield, driving in four of the team's seven runs and enjoying three-hit nights. The two teams meet again at Campanelli Stadium at 7:05 PM EST for Game 2. David Qualben draws the start for Pittsfield opposite Brockton's Mike Wlodarczyk.

New Jersey at Quebec (Postponed)

Game 1 of New Jersey's best-of-five series with Quebec was postponed due to rain. It will be played Thursday beginning at 7:05 EST, with Games 2-5 each being pushed back a day. New Jersey's A.J. Wideman faces off against Quebec's Troy Cate.
