Can-Am League Game Recaps

June 23, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

New Jersey 9, Quebec 8 (11 innings) - Box Score

The Jackals walked off over the Capitales to take a 9-8 victory in 11 innings on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium. New Jersey loaded the bases with no out in the bottom of the 11th courtesy of the international tiebreaker rule and a pair of walks, but a strikeout eased the pressure slightly on Quebec. 2B Rony Cabrera then stepped up with the bases still loaded and connected on an RBI single to give the Jackals the win.

DH Nolan Meadows and 1B Dean Green each homered for New Jersey in the win, with Green driving in two runs on the night, matching the team high with RF Jordan Hinshaw. RHP Mat Latos struck out three over 1.2 scoreless innings for his second win in as many days for New Jersey.

LF James McOwen homered for Quebec in the loss.

Rockland 3, Salina 2 - Box Score

Rockland RF Conor Bierfeldt hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the last of the ninth inning to push his Boulders over the Stockade 3-2. Three walks loaded the bases with one out for Rockland in the deciding frame, and Bierfeldt hit the game-winning fly ball. Earlier in the game, 3B Conrad Gregor hit an RBI groundout, and CF Mike Montville lofted a sacrifice fly of his own.

Bierfeldt had a team-high two hits for Rockland. On the mound, RHP David Palladino struck out 10 in a five-inning no-decision start. RHP Kyle Hansen earned the win in relief.

Salina SS William Salas was 3-for-4.

Trois-Rivieres 4, Hollywood 2 - Box Score

LF Javier Herrera homered twice, driving in three runs, and RF Michael Suchy hit a home run of his own in a 4-2 Aigles win over the Stars. After a leadoff walk, Herrera was up second in the home half of the first and connected for a two-run homer. In the third, Herrera and Suchy hit back-to-back solo homers to double the lead. The three homers were the only hits of the game for the Aigles.

RHP Chris Murphy struck out six over 7.2 innings to earn the win, while RHP Angel Rincon worked a scoreless 1.1 innings for the save.

Hollywood CF Michael Hungate was 2-for-4 in the loss.

Sussex County at Ottawa - Postponed

The game between the Miners and Champions was postponed due to inclement weather. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, June 24 at 12:35 p.m. at RCGT Park.
