Quebec 8, Trois-Rivieres 5
The Quebec Capitales received a solid pitching performance from Sheldon McDonald and earned an 8-5 win over Trois-Rivieres. McDonald tossed eight innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits with a walk and six strikeouts. With the victory, the southpaw improved his mark to 7-4 on the season. Quebec banged out 12 hits in the game, including a 4-for-4 effort from CF Kalian Sams. Sams launched his 13th home run of the season, scored four times and drove in three runs. Capitales LF Will Walsh and C Jean-Luc Blaquiere each collected two hits in the contest.
Wichita 5, Ottawa 3
A four-run fourth inning and a terrific pitching effort from Scott Richmond lead the Wichita Wingnuts to a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa Champions. Richmond notched his third win of the year as he gave up an earned run, a walk and eight hits in seven innings of work. Wichita RF David Espinosa led the offense going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Wingnuts LF Joash Brodin chipped in with two hits while 3B TJ Mittelstaedt and C John Nester each drew two walks. For Ottawa in the loss, DH Bryce Massanari had a 2-for-3 day with a run batted in.
Garden State Grays 13, Sussex County 9
The Garden State Grays banged out 19 hits and beat the Sussex County Miners, 13-9 for their third straight win. Garden State had five players with multi-hit games, including LF Shawn Payne who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI. Grays 2B Parks Jordan had a 2-for-5 day with four runs scored and two RBI and C Yefry Castillo had four hits and four runs driven in. Garden State reliever Zach Lebarron notched his first victory. Lebarron allowed an earned run on three hits in two innings pitched. Sussex County RF Ryan Mathews went 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI.
Rockland 10, New Jersey 4
Rockland scored eight big runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 3-2 deficit and beat New Jersey by a 10-4 final. Boulders LF Stephen Cardullo went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while C Joe Maloney chipped in with a pair of hits and three runs driven in. Rockland SS Junior Arrojo added three hits of his own along with two runs scored and a RBI. Boulders starting pitcher Alex Gouin threw seven innings to notch his fifth win of the year. Gouin gave up two earned runs on 10 hits and fanned a batter. With the win, Rockland stays 1 ½ games ahead of both Quebec and New Jersey in the Can-Am standings.
