Quebec 8, New Jersey 7 (10 Innings)
Quebec RF Tim Smith hit a walk-off single to score CF Sebastien Boucher and beat the New Jersey Jackals, 8-7, in 10 innings. The Capitales made two quick outs in the 10th before Boucher and 2B Mike Provencher hit back-to-back singles to put a runner in scoring position for Smith.
Quebec 1B Balbino Fuenmayor, the league leader in RBIs with 47, tied the game in the bottom of the ninth when he homered on a 0-1 pitch to lead off the inning.
Provencher led the Capitales with three hits, and 1B Rene Leveret, who was taken out for a pinch runner in the eighth, had two hits, including a fourth-inning two-run homer. Smith and Leveret both had three RBIs.
Relief pitcher Jay Johnson struck out the side in the top of the 10th and got his first win of the season. Starter Karl Gelinas pitched seven innings, struck out seven and allowed four runs - two earned - on five hits.
For the Jackals, 1B Jon Talley batted 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs on a two-run single in the eighth, which gave New Jersey a 7-4 lead.
Rockland 15, Trois-Rivieres 1
The Rockland Boulders used several big innings to take down the Trois-Rivieres Aigles, 15-1. LF Joe Maloney had five hits, including two home runs, to extend his hitting streak to seven. He scored four times and had led the Boulders with four RBIs.
Rockland jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning on four hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch. SS Steve Nyisztor and DH Stephen Cardullo each drove in two runs with singles, and 3B Junior Arrojo brought home two more with a double. Six Rockland batters had multi-hit games and the team totaled 17 hits.
In the fourth, the Boulders scored four runs on four straight RBI singles to put the game out of reach at 10-0.
Rockland starter Sean Bierman was locked in on the mound, tossing eight innings of one-run ball. He struck out seven, walked two and allowed three hits to move to 3-4 on the season. The superb start lowered his ERA to 2.46
Aigles' 1B Michael Hernandez scored the team's lone run in the seventh after he tripled and came home on a groundout to the shortstop.
