Published on June 30, 2014 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Rockland 5, New Jersey 2

New Jersey jumped out to an early lead, but Rockland C Joe Maloney's home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh provided the go-ahead run in the Boulders' 5-2 win.

The Jackals took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-RBI single from 1B Jon Talley. Rockland starter Stephen Harrold settled in, though, throwing seven innings of two-run ball. Harrold allowed four hits, three walks and struck out two, earning his second win in five starts.

In the fifth, Boulders' 3B Junior Arrojo and 2B Matt Nandin hit back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game, 2-2.

Following Maloney's home run in the seventh, which gave the Boulders a 3-2 lead, DH Will Walsh tripled putting him in prime position to score on a sacrifice fly from 3B Sean O'Hare, who replaced Arrojo in the sixth inning.

The Boulders tacked on an insurance run in the eighth on a solo home run from RF Ryan Stovall - his eighth of the season.

In the ninth, the Jackals loaded the bases, bringing the go-ahead run to the plate in RF Jorge Cortes, but Rockland closer Alex Kreis got him to pop up to third base, locking down his seventh save of the year.

Quebec 10, Trois-Rivieres 6

After falling behind 4-1, Quebec stormed back and pulled away, beating the Aigles, 10-6.

The Capitales scored nine runs in innings five through eight to mount a comeback. RF Asif Shah and DH Tim Smith each had three hits to lead the Capitales.

2B Mike Provencher and CF Sebastien Boucher both had solo home runs in the win. Provencher and LF Matt Helms each had a team-high two RBIs. Every Quebec batter had at least one hit, and six Capitales had multi-hit games.

For the Aigles, SS Jose Cuevas went 3-for-5 with a triple, a solo home run and a stolen base.

Quebec starter Zach Staniewicz pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and six walks. He struck out three in his third win of the season.
