Worcester 5, Newark 3
Worcester plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie and give the Tornadoes a 5-3 win over the Newark Bears. First baseman Michael Gedman led the Worcester offense going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Tornadoes CF Jerod Edmondson also scored two runs in the game in a 1-for-4 effort. Worcester reliever Sean Keeler pitched 1/3 of an inning and collected his first win of the season. For Newark in the loss, 1B Daryle Ward went 1-for-4 with a home run, his 10th of the season, and two RBI.
Sioux City 11, Rockland 1
It was all Sioux City in this one as the Explorers rolled out to a 4-0 lead after just an inning and would cruise to an 11-1 win over the Rockland Boulders. Sioux City LF Brandon Newton went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Explorers 1B Kris Sanchez and DH Jorge Delgado each had three hits in the game with Sanchez scoring three runs and Delgado driving in six. Sioux City starting pitcher Jason Jarvis tossed eight solid innings en route to the win. Jarvis allowed only an earned run on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Quebec at New Jersey (Postponed - Rain)
The game between Quebec and New Jersey was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, August 16th beginning at 5:00 PM.
