Newark 9, Worcester 2

A solid night at the plate by LF Bryce Lane and a terrific performance by starting pitcher Mike Ness lifted the Newark Bears past the Worcester Tornadoes, 9-2. Lane went 3-for-4 on the night with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI while Ness tossed six sharp innings allowing an earned run on four hits with six strikeouts. Ness moved to 1-0 on the season with the victory. 3B Johnny Welch went 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Tornadoes in defeat.

Quebec 7, Rockland 3

The defending champion Quebec Capitales got off to a great start to the 2012 season as they beat the Rockland Boulders, 7-3. CF Sebastien Boucher led the Capitales offensively going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and a run batted in. 1B Rene Leveret chipped in with two hits of his own for Quebec. Capitales reliever Jeff Duda notched the win as he threw two scoreless innings allowing only a walk. For the Boulders in defeat, SS Matt Nandin accounted for all of their runs with a three-run home run in the third inning.

New Jersey 15, Kansas City 2 (Top 7 - In Progress)
