Can-Am League/American Association Game Recap
June 13, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Newark 2, Kansas City 1
Newark 2B Juan Martinez made Kansas City pay for an untimely error in the top of the tenth. Three batters after C Billy Alvino reached on an error, Martinez singled him home to break a 1-1 tie. The RBI was Martinez's second of the game and ultimately won the game for the Bears. Earlier, T-Bones 1B Trevor Coleman had knotted the game with a leadoff home run in the sixth, ultimately forcing extra innings. Jorge Vasquez got the win in relief for Newark, but it was Kansas City RHP Josh Rainwater who delivered the game's best performance. He got the no-decision after throwing nine innings and giving up one run. Rainwater's one mistake was a triple by DH Alex Bardeguez to leadoff the game. The triple immediately led to the game's first run, when Martinez drove home Bardeguez on a ground out.
