Stockton, Calif. (March 12, 2007) - The Cougars return to the road for the final time this season. California takes on Chicago at the Sears Center on March 18 and will follow that up with their last road game of the season against the Detroit Ignition on March 23. The contest against the Ignition will be aired live on Comcast SportsNet West at 4:35 p.m. PST.

Dates to Remember: Due to the addition of the VERSUS as a televised game on March 31, the game originally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. has been rescheduled for 2:00 p.m. PST.
Newsworthy;
-The Cougars will take an extended roadtrip to the Midwest to face the Chicago Storm and the Detroit Ignition. The team will leave Stockton on Saturday afternoon and will face the Strom on Sunday. The team will remain in the area until they play the Ignition on Friday in an effort to reduce the wear and tear of east-west travel in such a short period of time.
-Three of the four remaining games this season will be televised locally. March 23 in Detroit on Comcast SportsNet West, March 24 on SJTV and March 31 on VERSUS network.
- The California Cougars announced Thursday that the team selected midfielder Matt Fitzgerald from Saint Mary's College in as its first overall pick in the 2007 MISL College draft.
A California native, Fitzgerald earned four-straight All-WCC accolades, including three first-team selections in his four-year career. Fitzgerald was a Third-Team All-West Region selection in 2005 and was also named the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2003. The midfielder finished his senior season with a team-high 11 points on four goals and three assists. Fitzgerald ranks third all-time at Saint Mary's in assists with 17 and fifth in points with 41 and seventh in goals with 12. The Castro Valley native played in 77 career games which ranks 4th all-time at SMC.
The team also selected Dixon, Calif. native Pedro Lupercio from California State University Sacramento. Lupercio, a senior midfielder, he leaves Sacramento State as one of its most dangerous offensive players in recent history, playing in 69 matches (52 starts) his 10 career assists rank fifth in Div. I program history.
Finishing off the first round for the Cougars, California selected Raul Bautista, a midfielder from San Diego State University. Bautista started all 16 games he appeared in 2006 and tied for fifth on the squad with six points on two goals and two assists. Bautista, who earned the team's "Man of the Match" honors a team-high five times last season, was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on October 3, 2006.
Also pick in the draft were San Diego State's Raul Bautista, San Jose State's Diego Soto, Univ. of San Francisco's Kevin Long and University of California's Mike Oseguera.
