California Buzz to Continue Play in ABA

January 19, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Contrary to published reports, the California Buzz, under the leadership of Burrel Lee III, General Manager/Head Coach, will continue to play its ABA schedule and will assume the record of the Orange County Crush. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "A news story was released stating that the team had folded. Inaccurate. The ownership was changed. The venue was changed. Some players were changed. That's the story. The team will continue to play and compete, and in fact, has already played a game with Fresno."

Lee added, "We've lined up a very good group of well known people as owners, including former NBA star, Cedric Ceballos; we are finalizing our venue, our new uniforms should be in in a day or two, we have a great new logo, and are very excited about this opportunity. Go ABA!"

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
