Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation "Play Ball! Tour" for Kids Hits Mobile

Baltimore, MD- The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation announced today that the Play Ball! Tour for Kids will stop in Mobile, AL on Wednesday, January 25th to present grants for the local Boys & Girls Clubs and Mobile County Schools, and to hold a baseball clinic for local children.

Representatives from the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation are traveling through 20 cities to present equipment and funding grants to Boys & Girls Clubs of America local affiliates and county school systems. As a donation, the City of Mobile will receive $15,000 in cash through funding grants.

While in Mobile, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation will be visiting Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday, January 25th from 4:00-6:30 p.m. While at "The Hank," the event will feature a Pitch, Hit and Run clinic, a check presentation for the $15,000 grant the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama is receiving from the foundation, and refreshments for kids, guests and media in attendance.

The annual Play Ball! Tour for Kids is one of the Foundation's most important initiatives designed to promote the game of baseball and softball at the local level. Each winter Foundation staff members visit 20-25 cities throughout the United States touching the lives of thousands of youth while donating nearly a $1 million in equipment and grants to organizations and schools in these communities. This year the Foundation will visit the South Eastern United States, focusing on areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
