
Cabrera Reassigned to Orem, Mendoza Joins Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (August 18, 2009) - The Salt Lake Bees announced today that the club has reassigned right-handed pitcher Francis Cabrera to Rookie League Orem and recalled right-handed pitcher Tommy Mendoza from Double-A Arkansas.
Cabrera, 23, has appeared in two games for the Bees in 2009, registering a 4.50 ERA in two innings of relief. In 11 games for the Orem Owlz this season, he owns a 2-1 record with a 2.78 ERA with 20 strikeouts. The Dominican Republic native originally signed with the Angels as a non-drafted free agent on June 11, 2005.
Mendoza, 22, has appeared in 20 games (20 starts) for Arkansas in 2009, owning a 7-7 record with a 3.36 ERA with 86 strikeouts. The Hialeah, Fla. native was originally drafted by the Angels in the fifth round of the 2005 draft. His first appearance with the Bees will be his Triple-A debut.
