The Butte Daredevils went into Salt Lake City and outplayed the Utah Eagles in a CBA slug fest Tuesday, 112-103. Odell Bradley, David Bell and Keith Closs led the late game surge off the bench as the Daredevils improved to 2-0. Utah fell to 1-1

Anthony Richardson got Butte off to a good start with 5 points in the first period, while Bradley came off the bench to drain 2 three-pointers and 8 points. Bryant Markson came off the Utah bench to score 8 points of his own, while Rob Griffin added 7 points from the perimeter. Butte led 29-28 after one period.

John Millsap of the Eagles was unstoppable in the second quarter with 18 points, giving Utah a spark off the bench, while Richardson kept Butte close with 8 points in the quarter to go with Nick Vanderlaan and Closs, who scored in close and dominated the glass. Utah led at the half 58-56.

The third period was a back and forth affair, with Griffin and Bradley leading the teams scoring efforts. Closs blocked and changed several shots, and David Bell added 8 points for Butte. Griffin and Bradley exchanged long three pointers in the final 1.3 seconds, with Bradleys giving Butte a 80-79 lead at the end of three quarters.

The final period was a showcase of big plays, with Ronald Ross and David Bell leading the way with big shots down the stretch. Griffin and Mike Hall kept Utah close until the final 2 minutes, but Vanderlaans 4 free throws in the final minute was too much to overcome. Bradley led the Daredevils with 24 points, leading a group of 6 players in double figures. Vanderlaan and Richardson had 17, while Bell, Ross and Closs added 13, 12 and 11 points respectively. Griffin led the Eagles with 29 points, while Millsap chipped in 22. Markson finished with 16 and Mike Hall 12.
