New Haven Ninjas News Release

New Haven, Conn. - The New Haven Ninjas' Cy Butler, who recorded a game high 108 yards receiving and scored the first touchdown in team history, has been placed on injured reserve following an injury to his achilles.

"Devastating," commented Head Coach Rick Buffington. "It's devastating to lose him because he was such a big play maker. Now someone else needs to rise up and take over."

Butler's performance may have been a bit of a surprise concidering he was not a scheduled started. He replaced offensive specialist Christ Ortiz who was sidelined with strep throat. Butler, an All-America selection in 1995, finished his collegiate career as Rhode Island's all-time all-purpose yards leader with 5,380.

A FAMILIAR FACE

The Ninjas have added Ryan Brady to their roster. Brady had been waived at the end of training camp. Brady had come to camp as an offensive/defensive lineman, but will now see time at fullback/linebacker.

"Brady should be a big help for us at the fullback position," said Buffington on the addition. "He's a big kid who will help give our quarterback more time to throw."

The 6-3, 295-pounder saw some time at linebacker at West Virginia where he was a four-year letterman.
