Butler, PA - November 11, 2013 - The Prospect League has announced its 2014 schedule, which once again includes 60 games for the Butler BlueSox who are entering their sixth season in the League.
The BlueSox will open on the road for the first time, taking on the Lorain County Ironmen at The Pipe Yard on Wednesday, May 28. Butler will return home to Pullman Park the following night to host the West Virginia Miners on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30.
The Slippery Rock Sliders have relocated to Springfield, Ohio where they have become the Champion City Kings. In addition to the Kings, Butler, Lorain, West Virginia, Chillicothe, and Richmond continue to make up the Prospect League's East Division. In the West Division, Danville, Hannibal, Terre Haute, Quincy and Springfield, Indiana will all be returning.
For the first time since 2011 the Prospect League will feature inter-division play. A road trip in June will take Butler to Danville, Illinois and Terre Hatue, Indiana. Butler will host the Danville Dans for two games over the Fourth of July weekend on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5.
Butler will conclude the season at home on Tuesday, August 5. The playoffs will begin the following day and return to the first- vs. second-half winner format. The divisional round and League championship will both be best of three game series.
Half of Butler's 30-home games will be on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings. A full promotional schedule and updated ticket pricing will be announced in the upcoming months.
Terre Hatue will host the League's 2014 All-Star Game at at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.
